U.S. Debt- and Deficit-Reduction Talks
William Isaac, chairman of Fifth Third Bancorp and a former chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, discusses the prospects for political compromise on reducing debt levels and the budget deficit and raising the debt ceiling. The White House and congressional leaders are signaling fresh openness to a broad debt-reduction deal that could include entitlement cuts and tax increases as President Barack Obama works to jump-start stalled bipartisan talks. Isaac speaks with Tom Keene on Bloomberg Television’s "Surveillance Midday."
