Technology Today: Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States with 182,000 cases diagnosed last year, resulting in 40,000 deaths.  The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is developing the Smart Probe, a new device that will let patients know immediately if a tumor is cancerous or benign - all this without removing any tissue.
