近年香港通脹強勁,不少長者為免加重子女之負擔,選擇回到職場工作幫補生活費。但長者們要重投工作可謂困難重重,據調查發現,全港只有約兩成公司願意聘用長者。其實長者並不是公司的負累,他們是一群社會經驗豐富及處事成熟的理想員工。僱主們應放下成見接受老年就業,好讓長者在耆老之年仍能發揮所長,為香港的繁榮發展再添色彩。 茶及咖啡是不少老友記的精神支柱,但長期飲用卻會加快骨質疏鬆!據劉明珠醫生解釋,骨質疏鬆症即骨骼密度退化下降,成因多為荷爾蒙失調及鈣質流失,令骨折風險大為提高。鈣質可經小便流失,而茶及咖啡則有利尿之效,長者實應可免則免。現時骨質疏鬆症可透過調理骨質之新陳代謝,以防止骨質疏鬆症繼續惡化。總括而言,預防骨質疏鬆要從小做起,常運動、保持均衡飲食及避免接觸煙酒等惡習,均是預防骨質疏鬆症的不二法門。
