Masters Of Russian Animation - Battle at Kerzhenets
This clip from a 1971 film that depicts the struggle of Russian people against foreign invaders. Ivan Ivanov-Vano recognizing Yuri Norstein's talent, gave his young protégé considerable artistic freedom during production of this film and a co-directing credit. Fresco and icon paintings in the traditions of the ancient masters are combined with music from Rimsky Korsakov's opera Tale of the Invisible City Kitezh. This film is 10 min. long and can be watched in its entirety on the Masters Of Russian Animation DVD set - an extraordinary collection of Russia's most important animated short films by Russia's world renowned directors.
