GrooveKats - Eclipse
Welcome to the West Eclipse (Performed by Natasha Kendall and Jessie James) I wrote the lyrics for ‘Eclipse’ long before James and I came up with a sweet and saucy little melody to accompany them. The song was inspired by; you guessed it, a lunar eclipse. On the night of the eclipse, I was at a musical jam in the country filled with fantastic people and awesome musical creations. We were all wired on the energy of the eclipse and the joy of sharing musical improvisation; the drums were beating, the fire was dancing to the rhythm of the beat, and the words for ‘Eclipse’ were inspired by the sheer beauty of a lunar eclipse. A couple of months passed and, during a jam session, James started playing a moody little twelve-bar blues riff and the song was born. -Natasha Kendall The melody being a 12 bar blues riff had only really captivated me after Tash wrote the lyrics and flute solos. After hearing the whole composition I really felt that it was a song about music and the creation of music. -Jessie James www.welcometothewest.ca
