The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners voted to put a local transit initiative on the November ballot.  If passed, the county sales tax will go up by a penny. The money will be used to expand bus service, widen roads, and build a local light rail line. In related news, State transportation officials Thursday said they had received consent from the federal Railroad Administration to begin designing, obtaining land and building the nation’s first major high-speed rail line from Tampa to Orlando.
