In conversation with the broadcaster and critic Tim Marlow Anya Gallaccio discusses her use of sugar and oak trees in Tate Britain’s new Biennial Duveen Sculpture Commission.18.09.2002 Anya Gallaccio came to prominence during the Freeze exhibitions of the late '80s. She has worked in a range of materials - flowers, ice and grass, and a tonne of molten lead poured onto a warehouse floor. The materials are used in unpredictable, almost fantastical ways.
