The Abandoned
The Abandoned — '...Eventually, when he had gained enough trust in me, he began to force me to help him in what he was truly doing...' This line, stated by a nurse named Francois, at a climactic point in the movie, reflects the horror and the suspense that is conveyed in the film 'The Abandoned'. 'The Abandoned' is a film about four college professors from Kansas who are going on a business trip to Las Vegas. As they are passing through Utah, their car breaks down near a mysterious-looking abandoned Mormon town. The professors then enter the town in the hopes of finding some food or a tow truck. After they have arrived and find shelter in the town’s hospital, they decide to split up and explore the town: with Higginsworth deciding to go to the library, Rosborough and Samuelson deciding to go to the general store, and Walsh deciding to stay at the hospital. When they run into some trouble at the store, Samuelson and Rosborough meet up with Higginsworth in the street and return to the hospital, only to find that their companion has gone missing. Higginsworth leaves to call a tow truck, and Samuelson gets stuck in a perilous situation. After he is saved the three decide to go to sleep for the night and wait for Walsh to come back. They are awoken in the middle of the night and after many dangerous happenings, they uncover a dreadful truth to what really happened in the town, and make one final attempt to escape.
