Woodsongs 515: JJ Grey and The Duhks
JJ GREY was born and raised just outside of Jacksonville, Florida. Grey comes from a long tradition of Southern musical storytellers. Like the best of the great Southern writers, he fills his songs with details that are at once vivid and personal, political and universal. THE DUHKS based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the band has been hailed by The New York Times as one of the artists at the forefront of the neo-folk movement. The band’s spot-on fusion of traditional bluegrass, folk rock, Afro-Cuban jazz and soul have earned them a Grammy Award nomination in the Best Country Vocal Performance category as well as a Juno award in their native Canada.
