Growing chronicles transitions and beginnings. In Spring of 2009, my wife and I quit our jobs and moved to a new state. Along with this major new beginning, we also began growing our first garden on the back porch of our new apartment. Growing uses photographs, video, and sounds of this garden as source material, creating an abstract video composition that grows from the bottom of the screen to fill the video frame, eventually engulfing the viewer in the colors and sounds of growth, both natural and artistic. Unique in my body of work as it is almost entirely autobiographical, the video’s subject matter also represents new growth in my artistic output.
