Some of Many: Germans in Australia (1983) - Clip 2: The Barossa Valley
Strolling around his winery, Hermann Thumm talks to the filmmaker, telling the story of how he founded the successful vineyard Chateau Yaldara after the Second World War when he emigrated to the Barossa Valley in South Australia. German winegrowers remain of influence through names like Kaiser Stuhl and Seppelt. A more recent immigrant, Heinz Baumert moved to Australia from Dresden and moved to Tanunda to start a restaurant, Heinemanns Park. Speaking to camera in German, Baumert describes how he also bought a property for himself and his family.
