The Elite Plaza Hotel’s history continues to incorporate new traditions. Once housing the Svea Fire & Life Insurance company in the late 1880's, the building was developed by top architects of the era. Recent renovations reflect this classicism, showcased when the hotel re-opened in January 2000. The remarkable entrance made of fine-cut, partially polished granite and the English mosaic floor have been restored to their original beauty. Pillared halls with arches of Italian marble stucco and wrought-iron details reflect the New Renaissance style.
