Punjab: Pests, rain threaten BT cotton
For India’s six million cotton famers BT cotton has been a success story. Introduced eight years ago BT cotton was immune to the American bollworm the main cotton pest and with 90 percent of farmers shifting to BT, India's cotton production doubled. But now other pests have become more threatening and this year's heavy rains are also affecting the yield.
