THE BATTLE OF KOSOVO - SCENE 20. ACT TWO – Scene 20 On stage appears again the church where the divine worship continues; bread and salt are shared. At the moment that Tsar Lazar takes the bread, noises are heard outside. At the entrance everyone makes room for two Serbian warriors. They help carry into the church a Serbian knight, who is wounded in his back by a few arrows. Tsar Lazar comes forward; the wounded knight lifts his head with his last remaining strength and stammers: MILAN TOPLICA: Obilic ha….s ki…lled Muuuraa…t… Milan Toplica’s head drops. The tsar takes a hold of him, breaks the arrows with his hands and lies him down on the ground. He feels his neck artery and says, turning his head, saddened: TSAAR LAZAR: Toplica is dead… The tsar shuts the eyes of Milan Toplica, takes off his tsar robe and covers the body. Then he casts an angry glance at Brankovic, who hunches his shoulders as a token of regret. Soon exited voices go round the church: THE VOICES: OBILIC HAS KILLED MURAT!!! OBILIC HAS KILLED MURAT!!!
