I know I am not alone in loving films like this one which takes us back to times when families had real values. This remarkably charming film which depicts life from a childrens standpoint in a country area of Lancashire is so lovely and innocently funny it really makes one long for those days to return(which of course they never can) the younger lad who stars in the film along with the marvellously talented Hayley Mills is I think Alan Barnes...he makes the film in my opinion and is a comic genius considering he is so young..Well done for discovering a boy who makes this part his own. And well done to all concerned including the writer Mary Hayley Bell the mother of Hayley Mills and wife of the fantastic actor John Mills.. Truly this was a family collaboration.. Well Done! A film for the archives that will live forever! ... >>
