３日に投票が行われたタイの総選挙は、即日開票の結果、事実上の国外追放となっているタクシン元首相の妹・インラック氏を首相候補に据えた最大野党・タイ貢献党が過半数の議席を獲得して政権を奪還する可能性が高まり、与党・アピシット首相は敗北を認めた。
