最資深白宮女記者因以色列問題失言提早退休
美國一家通訊社的駐白宮資深女記者凱倫湯馬斯，上月底接受一個網站專訪時批評以色列，宣稱以色列要撤出巴勒斯坦，而猶太人要到德國、波蘭或美國，遭受奧巴馬政府以至記者同業組織嚴詞批評後，宣布提早退休，即時生效。 凱倫在接受訪問後，雖然曾為自己失言公開道歉 ，但白宮發言人吉布斯仍指她的言論具侵犯性及應被譴責，強調她的言論並不代表白宮及部分人士的立場。 白宮記者協會亦罕有地發表聲明，認為言論難以自辯。 今年89歲的凱倫湯馬斯，由1960年開始替不同傳媒擔任駐白宮記者，採訪過多位美國總統。
