STATEN ISLAND N.Y. — April 11 2010. In this clip Patricia Suarez from Make The Road New York and community activist Hesham el-Meligy speak out against hate and urged the community to report violent crimes while teaching their children tolerance. Suarez and El-Meligy spoke at a vigil for hate crime victim Rodolfo Olmedo. Olmedo was severely beaten by four youths yelling anti-Mexican slurs as he walked home from work on April 5. The vigil was held outside the bakery where Olmedo works in the Port Richmond section of Staten Island on Sunday April 11 -- it drew 150 participants.   ... >>
