AIDS: Government Intervention vs. The Market
AIDS continues to be one of the most intractable diseases because a cure has been so elusive. Although it is just one of many health issues in the U.S., AIDS has devastated the populations of some developing countries. As this global disease continues to spread, serious questions must be raised about costs, treatments, and the race for a cure. How much of a role should the federal government play in research and in providing benefits for AIDS patients? Are pharmaceutical companies taking advantage of a captive population? Can interest groups push the search for a cure for AIDS to the top of the policy agenda? From the Series:Capitol Region Roundtable
