Historisch gesehen ist die Plaza Mayor der zentrale Hauptplatz der spanischen Hauptstadt. Er wurde im 15. Jahrhundert unter König Philipp II. zum Verwaltungszentrum des spanischen Hofes. Im 17. Jahrhundert wurden auf der Plaza Mayor auch Stierkämpfe, Karnevalsveranstaltungen und Feste jeglicher Art ausgerichtet.Heute bildet die Plaza Mayor den historischen Stadtkern Madrids.Quelle:
