THE PIER — Katie, a sensitive young artist confused about her sexuality struggles to maintain a platonic relationship with her best friend Sam.  She searches to find her identity through her artwork. She finds comfort reading about old film stars whom she idolizes for their strength, beauty and courage to be different. Sam a provincial young boy struggles to keeps his feelings for her at bay but her constant rejection towards his advances eventually wears him down. Fueled by overwhelming frustration, his boyish innocence turns to obsession. The story unravels on the coast, beautiful, eery shots of the snow unrelentingly whipping across the frozen bay are interwoven throughout the film which serve as a metaphor for Sam’s hardening soul leading and Kaite's struggle to find her own truth.
