Deepak Obhrai, the parliamentary secretary to the minister of foreign affairs, spoke to reporters about Daniel Dion, the Ottawa-area businessman who has disappeared while on a business trip in Acapulco.  Liberal House leader David McGuinty and Bloc Québécois House leader Pierre Paquette commented on the related topics of government expenditures and MPs’ expenses. Paquette was also asked about Pauline Marois’ leadership of the Parti Québécois and about rumours that Bloc leader Gilles Duceppe may replace Marois. NDP MP Paul Dewar continued to question former minister Michael Fortier’s role in the sale of federal buildings in 2007. Dewar also commented on David Dion’s disappearance. NDP MP Don Davies commented on the case of storeowner David Chen, who was not guilty today of assault and forcible confinement of a shoplifter. Davis also discussed MP’ expenses. Liberal immigration critic Justin Trudeau shared his reaction to the news that Thai authorities have arrested more than 100 Tamil migrants who were on their way to Canada.
