Grocery School: How To Buy A Thanksgiving Turkey
Find out how to buy a turkey for your Thanksgiving feast on this lesson of Grocery School. • When buying a turkey, always look for grade ‘A’ meat. It means the meat is non-processed. • How do we know what size of turkey we should buy? A general rule of thumb is 3 quarters of turkey * number of guests. • Younger turkeys have tender meat, so the turkey should be less than 5 months. It is always suggested to buy Kosher, Fryer, or Roaster turkey. • Frozen turkeys are better to buy than the fresh ones. These should be thawed for 5 hours per pound in the refrigerator.
