米・オバマ大統領、次期商務長官にジョン・ブライソン氏を指名すると発表
アメリカのオバマ大統領は5月31日、次期商務長官に電力大手「エジソン・インターナショナル」の元会長で最高経営責任者だったジョン・ブライソン氏を指名すると発表した。オバマ大統領は「ブライソン氏はアメリカの輸出を倍増するという目標の達成に尽力してくれるだろう」と述べた。オバマ大統領は、声明の中でブライソン氏について、「民間での長い経験をもとに海外市場での競争力を高め、雇用創出に貢献してくれるだろう」と期待を寄せた。ブライソン氏は、航空大手「ボーイング」やメディア大手「ウォルト・ディズニー」での役員経験もある。オバマ大統領は、民間からの閣僚起用により、2012年の大統領選を視野に経済界との関係強化を狙ったとみられる。
