Buy local, eat great, and help the environment
Trucking food in from far burns tons of fossil fuels as gigantic semi trucks haul their loads to your local grocery stores. That’s why it's better to buy local when it comes to food if you can. Food that's grown by local farmers doesn't have to travel as far, and more and more environmentally conscious people are starting to buy local in order to cut down on emissions from trucks importing food. And to make the buying local deal even better... the food will taste better because it's fresher. You can get locally grown fruits, vegetables, eggs, and other products that came straight from the farm they were grown on instead of sitting in a truck for two days, and it's better for the environment. Another bonus is that buying local will help your local farmers stay in business. If you really feel like getting hardcore about the buy local movement, you can even opt to become a shareholder in a farm in your community, and help the local farm succeed and thrive. Sometimes locally grown foods might be a little more expensive, but they are worth it for the way they help make your community stronger, their environmental impact, and for their delicious and fresh taste. It's a no lose situaiton.
