Afghans Angry Over Civilian Casualties
(Al Jazeera English: November 20, 2009) Local and international forces in Afghanistan have been accused of shooting innocent civilians as they slept. The military, who arrest two other men, says one has links to Al Qaeda. The UN is urging the world to help up to a billion children who are still being deprived of basic rights, like food and water, 20 years after the UN adopted a treaty designed to guarantee these rights. Also, a severe lack of water is threatening China’s biggest infrastructure project, the Three Gorges Dam, and scientists in Israel are making breakthroughs in cancer research.
