Somewhere, someone is enjoying an exotic, European love affair like the one unfurling itself over the first half of "French Navy": the first offering from Camera Obscura’s upcoming release My Maudlin Career (4AD).  London, Paris, Rome; the two young lovers featured here certainly have the right background in which to set their enchanting escapades to. So young, so sweet...it's all sort of painful to watch Just being honest. But damn that Tracyanne Campbell! Does she know how to kill a storybook ending, or what? Just when everything's going so good, the line "I wanted to control it/But love I couldn't hold it" slips out of the lovely Scottish lark's lips and...poof! This here romance is doomed.
