Scrums Liberal Foreign Affairs Critic Bob Rae, NDP Defence Critic Jack Harris and Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe reacted to comments made by retired Major-General Lewis MacKenzie at the House of Commons Defence Committee. MacKenzie said that Canada should stay to train the Afghan army after the combat mission ends in 2011.   The Speaker of the House of Commons approved the deal that would give select MPs access to Afghan detainee documents. The NDP will not be part of the process, as it was the only party that did not accept the deal. NDP Defence Critic Jack Harris commented on the ruling. Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe and Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, shared their thoughts on the end of the Parliamentary session. Environment Minister Jim Prentice spoke to reporters about a report that raises concerns about Canada’s water supply. The report was released by the National Round Table on the Environment.
