Americans for Tax Reform and Debt Talks
Grover Norquist talked about the goals of his organization, Americans for Tax Reform, in the budget and debt talks between President Obama and congressional leaders. He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Topics included Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s "last chance option" that would initially authorize a $700 billion rise in the debt ceiling, with a provision that Congress could disapprove of further increases; President Obama; and the anti-tax pledge that all but six members of the House and seven senators have signed. Mr. Norquist in his comments said that the pledge is not to Americans for Tax Reform but rather to voters. C-SPAN Radio's Nancy Calo read news headlines at the end of the program.
