French Spiderman Climbs the Singapore Flyer
Tweet French urban climber Alain Robert, also known as Spiderman, climbed the Singapore Flyer on Friday – this time worrying about the weather rather than authorities. Robert was invited to climb one of the highest observation wheels in the world, standing at 165 meters, as part of the 2010 Singapore Mettle Games, an action sports event. Participating in an organized event, Robert did not have t More..o worry about being arrested after his climb, however, the rainy weather made the steel handles on the Flyer very slippery. The 48-year-old climber is used to climbing obstacles with his bare hands. However for this event, it was different. [Alain Robert, ‘‘Spiderman”]: "In my life I did very difficult buildings such as the Sears Towers or even climbing the Petronas all the way to the top. I was not having any safety devices so it makes it, you can’t afford to make even one mistake. So it is completely different in that, by climbing the Singapore Flyer, I was using some safety from bottom to top to bottom and then I was not really taking any risk." Robert completed his climb in about 35 to 40 minutes.
