Digital Tipping Point: School Teachers in Extremadura, Spain 01 (2004)
This is one of many short video segments which will be added to the Digital Tipping Point (DTP) archive. This series of segments features interviews with teachers in Merida, the political capital of the Region of Extremadura, Spain. Extremadura has become a global leader in using Free Open Source Software to bring the power and wisdom of the Internet to less wealthy groups. (A "Region" in Spain is roughly the same as a "State" or "Province"; a semi-autonomous political subdivision of the nation of Spain). Extremadura has historically been one of the less wealthy Regions of Spain, but the economy there is improving rapidly, and Extremadurans credit their burgeoning IT industry with helping to facilitate this growth.
