Shakespeare in LYTS - The Movie — In 54 minutes, eight teens deliver 21 of Shakespeare?s most enjoyable scenes; woven together to tell the story of life. Hamlet begins by telling his cast how to act and Jacques gives a clue as to what follows: The Nurse talks of birth and Mercutio the foolishness of love. Next the most famous young couple of all declare their love for one another and, Theseus points out how similar in terms of folly the lunatic, the lover and the poet are. Next we see a completely different liaison erupt as Petruchio attempts to tame his wild Kate. Polonius gives sound advice to his son Laertes as he leaves for college and Macbeth is spooked by some ghetto witches. Henry V charges up his army to fight and a Lady begs to be turned into a monster. Tamora, the most evil mother of all enjoys her rescue and then charges her sons to seek revenge. Speaking of revenge, Richard, unhappy with the peace that surrounds him, for sport, decides to have some fun more suited to his twisted nature. Shylock makes a fine case against racism and Portia makes her case for mercy. Hamlet contemplates suicide and Juliet weeps for her Romeo... is he dead? Yorick definitely is. Cymbeline?s funeral song leads us beautifully towards the end of life and the doomed Scot asserts that life signifies nothing. Finally, Prospero clears the stage as we, having finished the journey of life, round it with a sleep
