iReport — CNN, MSNBC, and FOX are all carrying the Casey Anthony trial live! Can you believe it? With all the important news that’s happening in America and in the World, this is the story that takes precedence over everything else. Wow! What about the flooding of the nuclear plant? Or the European debt crisis with Greece on the verge of default? The Libyan War powers Act coverage? No..No..and a resounding ..NO! Maybe they can't get advertisers to buy time during that coverage. Since when have our major news networks become "Court TV"? I came home for lunch and flipped the TV on to CNN. Casey Anthony. MSNBC...Casey. FOX..LOL..yeah, third down on the list and they, too, were covering Casey. Well, CNBC, I thought, should be covering the markets. They were. What a relief. Apparently, ratings are important. Whether a news story is worth giving it live coverage seems to be determined more by how much revenue it will generate and what kind of ratings it will get rather than it's importance . And why doesn't that surprise me. That's the result of having a free market approach to news coverage. And what happened to advocacy journalism? It didn't pay the bills. Casey Anthony? Really? Now we know why people in America are mostly uninformed.   ***
