武者を弔う巨大たいまつ 須賀川の五老山
巨大な松明（たいまつ）の炎が夜空を赤く染める「松明あかし」が１４日、福島県須賀川市の五老山であった。伊達政宗に敗れた須賀川城の武者たちを弔う、４００年余もの歴史がある伝統行事。長さ１０メートル、重さ３トンの「大松明」を中心に、山頂に立てられた３０本余りの松明に次々と火がつけられると、観客から歓声が上がった。
