Earthquake Hits Northwestern China

Officials say many more might be trapped, and rescue efforts are being hampered by landslides and disrupted telecommunications. Kyrgyzstan’s interim leaders said that talks with deposed president Kurmanbek Bakiyev were possible, but that there were concerns over trust. The U.S. expressed concerns over Syria's alleged transfer of Scud missiles to the Lebanese group Hezbollah. Elections have been set in Poland for June following the devastating plane crash that killed the country's president, Lech Kaczynski.
