Ragpickers work in toxic conditions
It is a wasted effort. Rag pickers in Delhi definitely think so. They had thought privatisation of waste collection would help them lead a better life. Instead, even more so then before, it’s a two way struggle, as they have to clean the city's and the private companies waste. Privatisation of waste collection has worsened rag pickers' condition. Rag pickers are forced to sell waste to operators thereby losing their livelihood.
