ATM FEES, OH MY!
High ATM surcharges can be a killer anywhere you go, but once you travel internationally, the fees banks charge you to access your own cash can be somewhat outrageous. One way to get rid of these huge fees is to sign up for an ATM card through a smaller, local bank. Big, national banks get away with charing huge fees, but smaller banks often will waive any fees because they are just happy to have your business. And you will be glad you gave it to them when you don’t have to pay an extra five dollars every time you want to take out some cash when you are in a foreign country.
