World Music: Kiran Ahluwalia
In 2005, singer Kiran Ahluwalia received the Juno award (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy) for her first CD which contained settings of ghazals and folk songs. But she firmly states that she does not sing "traditional" Indian music, and in this insightful interview she explains her journey from acolyte to professional artist, and the influences and inspirations that make her music what it is.
