An experimental hotel in Berlin.
A hotel in Berlin offers 45 rooms decorated by artist Lars Stroschen, who likes to use light and sound for decorative effect. Among the original designs are a bed hanging upside down and another which can be divided in two. Before you even check in you might get the feeling that this hotel isn’t entirely ordinary. And you'd be right. Milana Ivanova, Propeller Island City Lodge, “Here we have things you wouldn't see in any other hotel. For example, you can enter a room and not spot the bed straightaway. There is a bed there, but it's hanging from the ceiling, upside down and you ask yourself 'where am I going to sleep?' So you look at the ground and they you see little handles and if you pull on them four beds appear." Artist Lars Stroschen worked on the original designs for seven years. The rooms may now look good, but it seems some aspects aren't very user-friendly. Hotel client, “This morning, for example, I got up, still half asleep, and went to the bathroom, but I'd forgotten that the floor was sloping. I slipped a little." This room is a good choice if you're not sure how you're going to get on with your bunkmate. At the press of a button a partition descends from the ceiling and splits the bed in two. The hotel also caters to the indecisive. Milana Ivanova, Propeller Island City Lodge, "Most clients want to try several rooms so they ask us if they can spend one night in one room, the next night in another." And if you're after a different kind of adventure, there's even a room with cages, chains and ropes.
