Hailed as a "shining star in the field of international human rights law," Fitzpatrick has worked on paving the way for legislative remedies for Salvadoran, Guatemalan, and Haitian refugees, and restitutions from Swiss banks for victims of the Holocaust.   She has served as chair of the Amnesty International Standing Committee on the Mandate and is the author of the book, Human Rights in Crisis.
