Protestors and Police Clash in Copenhagen
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: December 16, 2009) Police made over two hundred arrests at the climate change talks in Copenhagen, as protestors' anger intensified with the lack of progress in the negotiations. Many delegates at the talks are very pessimistic that an agreement will be reached. In Pakistan, the Supreme Court has removed an amnesty that had protected President Asif Ali Zardari and other government officials from corruption charges; this ruling may lead to the embattled Zardari’s resignation. Also, Iran test-fired a missile despite criticisms from the West, and a volcano threatens the Philippines.
