C&WW hit by UK spending cuts
Shares in Cable & Wireless Worldwide tumbled nearly 20 per cent on Tuesday after the telecoms group blamed a “very significant slowdown” in UK public sector contracts for a profits warning. Philip Stafford, companies reporter, considers whether with the scale of the government’s fiscal tightening, the telecoms company should have seen this coming, and which other companies might also suffer.
