Sony - Down Down Down!
We all know that the Nintendo Wii has been dominant in the console market these past couple of years. Being able to attract a more casual gaming audience with a huge age range, Nintendo has met with newfound success. The Xbox 360 of course still has a large core gaming audience, bringing in many recognizable and great gaming titles each year along with its strong online gaming system. But what about Sony? Well get this, according to statistics, Sony has actually lost more money making and selling the Playstation 3 than it had originally made with the Playstation 2! Keep in mind that the Playstation 2 was released all the way back in 2000 and is the best selling console to date. Some estimates put Sony’s total loss at around 3 billion dollars, others are a bit more conservative. Regardless, this doesn't necessarily spell the end of the gaming giant. After all, Microsoft has already spent over a billion dollars in replacement and repair costs on faulty Xbox 360s to date, not to mention that Microsoft lost 4 billion on the original Xbox. The future remains solid for Sony and the Playstation 3, as prices drop and sales begin to climb. However, in terms of the console race, the PS3 is definitely not on top when compared to the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360.
