Digital Tipping Point: Larry Augustin, GNU Linux business visionary 20 (2005)
This is one of many short video segments which will be added to the Digital Tipping Point (DTP) archive. Larry Augustin’s bio on his blog describes him as an angel investor and advisor to early stage technology companies. He has served on the boards of important companies that have helped to prove that Free Open Source Software is financially viable across several different business models. He is one of the group who coined the term "Open Source", a move which has been a key marketing move that has allowed business managers to understand the power of the Free Software movement that Richard Stallman started in 1984. In 20 years (by 2028), after the real world digital tipping point has happened, Richard Stallman's vision of the universal freedom to control and change software will be thoroughly woven into all but the most arcane and cutting edge software packages. Larry Augustin's business smarts are one of the bridges that has helped move the GNU/Linux operating system and other Free Software into the mainstream.
