Economic Pressure Builds in Greece and Ireland
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: November 15, 2010) EU and IMF officials are in Athens to assess progress on Greek austerity measures and to decide whether to release the next installment of bail-out funds, as new figures show that the Greek economy is doing worse than previously thought. Ireland’s economy is also struggling, but the government there denies it needs a Greek-style bail-out. In Sudan, voter registration has begun ahead of the January referendum on independence. North and South Sudan are reportedly close to a framework deal on contentious aspects of the referendum like border and citizenship issues.
