Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse near Augusta, S W Australia is the tallest lighthouse in Mainland Australia. Built from 1895 - 1896 of local limestone, the tower has 7 floors & 186 steps. Lighthouse was totally manually operated until 1982 when electricity replaced the clockwork mechanism & kero burner, one of the last in the world. The light was automated in Sep 1992. The nearby disused Water Wheel was built in 1895 to tap a spring & provide water for workers building the Lighthouse . Video was taken in mid-Sep 2009.
