Flood Victims Await Aid in Pakistan
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: August 16, 2010) People affected by the floods in Pakistan are growing frustrated as they await aid. A remote village in the northwest Shingar region, for example, has lost its hydroelectric turbines, which were the village’s only source of electricity. In Afghanistan, a man and a woman have been stoned to death after being accused of adultery; such punishments are said to be the result of the Taliban's influence in the region. Japan's economy is on the verge of falling behind China, which is soon to become the world's second largest economy.
