Burnaby--Douglas
Campaign Politics Burnaby--DouglasBurnaby--Douglas is one of the many ridings with no incumbent running for re-election. New Democrat Bill Siksay has represented the Vancouver riding since 2004, when he replaced longtime MP Svend Robinson. This time the NDP’s hopes rest with Kennedy Stewart, a 45 year-old professor at Simon Fraser University and former candidate (2004) in Vancouver Centre. The Liberals, who have coveted this riding for several elections, have nominated Ken Chang Low, an engineer with the City of Vancouver and a former chairman of the Chinese Freemasons Senior Housing Society. It is the Conservatives, however, who have come closest to taking this seat away from the NDP. In 2008, Ronald Leung, a seniors home director, lost by only 800 votes. He’s been nominated again. CPAC’s Ed Watson reports on what is expected to be a very tight race in Burnaby--Douglas.
