Cleveland Indians 2011 Preview: Jayson Nix, Michael Brantley, and Carlos Santana
Bloomberg Sports Analyst Rob Shaw breaks down the 2011 Cleveland Indians in A View of the Diamond. Shaw tells us that in the infield, the player with the most intrigue is third baseman Jayson Nix. At 28 years old, Nix has proven to carry a power bat, but he lacks consistency and will have to dramatically improve his batting average. In the outfield, Shaw points to Michael Brantley as a player on the rise who offers plenty of speed and had a nice run in the second half of last season. While the starting rotation is mediocre, the bullpen should be solid. Of course, the center of attention for the Indians will be Carlos Santana, a catcher so talented he may allow Indians fans to forget Victor Martinez.
