Some of Philadelphia?s most famous pretzel-makers squared off Friday to compete in the third annual ?Battle of the Soft Pretzels.? The event, held at the Independence Visitor Center, celebrates National Pretzel Month. Winners were chosen in four categories. Six bakeries competed: Soft Pretzels Unlimited, Philadelphia Soft Pretzel, Pretzel Depot, Philadelphia Soft Pretzel Factory, The Pretzel Boys, and Federal Pretzel Baking Co. The Philadelphia Soft Pretzel company won the most celebrated award - Best Traditional Pretzel.
